Jigmelang Fishing Tour

Total Duration: 10 Days - 9 Nights of Bhutan Fishing Tour.     Fishing Days : 1 Day.

Jigmelang fishing tour will be a combination of cultural tour as well as Trekking besides fishing. The main fishing will be done in Jigmelang Tsho- a lake famous for its giant sized trout. Jimilang Tsho rests at an elevation of 3,870 metres (12,700 ft) at the apex of the Druk Path Trail. Its name means "Sand Ox Lake," named after a legendary bull. Also called Bimelang Tsho, this sacred lake is a meditation site. The lake contains many trout, and fishing there is allowed with permit.

The 5 day trek takes you through the famous trek route called Druk Path. You will also hike in Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s nest) and have a short cultural de-tour around Thimphu and Paro.

Day 1: Arrival in Paro.

  • Our representative from Bhutanitis Travels will receive you at the Airport and transfer you to the hotel.
  • In the afternoon visit Ta Dzong (the national museum) and Rinpung Dzong.
  • Dinner and overnight stay will be in a hotel in Paro.
Food and accommodation will be as per your reservation.

Day 2: Paro to  Jili Dzong.

  • After breakfast, your transportation will drop you off at Paro Ta Dzong from where the trek begins. The first day can be quite arduous as you have to climb more than 1,000 m elevation. You start from the Ta Dzong (National Museum) in Paro. The trek follows a gravel road past a few farms for about 30 minutes and then climbs up a steep ridge before leading through blue pine and fir forests to Damche Gom. Once you reach the ridge below Jili Dzong you descend about 100m to the campsite at an altitude of 3,480 m. The total trek is estimated to take a maximum of 4 to 5 hrs.
  • Lunch will be served on the way.
  • Dinner and overnight halt will be in the campsite at Jili Dzong.

Day 3: Jili Dzong to Jangchulakha.

  • After breakfast, begin with a steep climb for about an hour and a half, then the slope evens a bit and the ascent is more gradual. The trail takes you through thick alpine forests and dwarf rhododendron tress. You may see herders and their yaks around your campsite. We camp at an altitude of 3,770 m.
  • Lunch will be served on the way.
  • Dinner and overnight halt will be in the campsite at .

Day 4 : Jangchulakha to  Jigmelang Tsho.

  • After breakfast, .begin your trek following a ridge and on a clear day the view of the mountains and valley are simply stunning. The campsite is close to the Jimgelang Tsho Lake at an altitude of 3,870 m. This lake is known for its giant sized trout.
  • Lunch will be served on the way.
  • Dinner and overnight halt will be in the campsite at Jigmelang Tsho.

Day 5: Jigmelang Tsho Halt.

  • Today we will spend the whole day in Jigmelang Tsho. You can spend the whole day fishing in the lake which is known for its giant sized trout.
  • You can also take short hikes around the camp area where you can catch some beautiful rhododendron alongside the paths.
  • Dinner and overnight halt in the campsite at Jigmelang Tsho.

Day 6: Jigmelang Tsho to Phajoding.

  • After breakfast, the trail takes us through dwarf rhododendron shrubs as we descend back towards Phajoding. From the top we hope to enjoy the majestic view of Mt. Gangkar Punsum, at 7250 m, the highest mountain in Bhutan. We gradually descend further to the Phajoding camp. At night we should be able to see Thimphu city glittering in a bowl shaped valley.
  • Dinner and overnight halt in the campsite at Phajoding.

Day 7: Phajoding to Thimphu.
  • After breakfast, visit the Phajoding monastery and start a steady descend downhill through a forested area of mostly blue pine towards Motithang for about 1130 m. The walk, at a leisurely pace, takes about 3 hours.
  • The trek comes to an end at Bhutan Broadcast Service (BBS) Telecommunication Tower, offering great view of the city of Thimphu. Your guide will take you to your respective hotels where you can rejuvenate and refresh yourselves to embark on yet another adventurous journey tomorrow.

Day 8: Thimphu Sightseeing.

  • After breakfast, visit KuenselPhodrang, where the largest statue of siting Buddha is located. It offers a stunning panoramic view of the whole of the Thimphu city.
  • Visit Changgangkha Lhakhang, and the Takin preservation Center in Motithang.
  • After lunch visit, Dechenphu Lhakhang.
  • Dinner and overnight stay in hotel in Thimphu.
Optional activities you can choose from:
  • Day hiking in Thimphu.
  • Visit to national memorial Chorten and handicrafts emporium located in the heart of the city.

Day 9: Thimphu to Paro.

  • After an early breakfast, drive towards Paro.
  • Upon arrival in Paro, Take a hike to the legendary Paro Taktsang (tiger’s nest) monastery.
  • Lunch will be in the cafeteria while returning from the monastery.
  • After the hike, you can relax and rest in your hotel. Probably take a hot stone bath to rejuvenate.
  • Dinner and overnight stay will be in a hotel in Paro.

Day 10: Departure from Paro.

  • After breakfast, drive to the Airport and farewell.
